Dr. Joshua Parker grew up in Hertford, North Carolina with one older brother. He attended East Carolina University and majored in biology with a concentration in evolution and ecology. His extracurricular activities in college included intramural sports and involvement with the Honors College Student Council. He was also a teaching assistant and laboratory technician. He went on to attend veterinary school at North Carolina State University. 

His professional interests include cardiology, dentistry, surgery, and ophthalmology. He looks forward to learning more about soft tissue surgery, orthopedic surgery, ultrasonography, internal medicine, dermatology, and cardiology. 

In his free time, Dr. Parker enjoys fishing, college football and baseball, movies, concerts, and stand-up comedy. He lives with his wife. When asked why he loves veterinary medicine, he said, “I love veterinary medicine because of the relationships I can build with my team, my patients, and my clients. I chose this profession because it gives me the opportunity to directly improve the lives of the people and pets in my community, while also allowing for lifelong learning and professional development.”
