Dr. Katie Blackard grew up the third youngest of nine(!) siblings in the suburbs of D.C. in Rockville, Maryland. Dr. Blackard received her undergraduate degree from Clemson University in 2011 where she majored in biomedical engineering. She then spent four years working in the rare diseases department at the FDA before starting vet school. She received her veterinary degree from Virginia Tech in 2019 (part of the same graduating class as Dr. Rolley!).

Dr. Blackard started her veterinary career at North Mecklenburg Animal Hospital in 2019. Her professional interests include dentistry, care of giant breed dogs, dermatology, and geriatric care.

In her free time, Dr. Blackard enjoys spending time with her two Newfoundlands named Bojangles and Blu. She also enjoys playing dodgeball, cooking, and hiking.
