Associate Doctor
Dr. Kendall Hlewicki
Dr. Kendall Hlewicki was born in New York, but moved to the Davidson area when she was 9 years old. She grew up with her parents, sister, and family dogs Scoobie and Riley, before finally getting her own personal dog, Mochi. From a young age she loved animals, but was especially fond of dogs and horses. She received her undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University. While in Raleigh she spent her time volunteering at the Raleigh SPCA, riding on the Hunt Seat Team, joining a community service focused sorority, as well as participating in various animal related clubs. Before going to veterinary school, she worked as a Veterinary Assistant at NMAH and absolutely loved the clinic, all the staff, the approach to medicine, and the clients she worked with.
In the year between undergraduate and Veterinary school she worked in transplant research at Duke University School of Medicine. During this time her research mainly focused on normothermic perfusion of porcine kidney's as a model for humans, however due to the COVID-19 pandemic her research also extended into ventilators and lung transplantation.
For veterinary school she returned to North Carolina State University. Immediately following vet school, she moved up to Boston, Massachusetts for a year of emergency and urgent care training. This experience allowed her to get certificates in both BLS and ALS CPR as well as receive over 100 hours of continuing education. Her professional interests include preventative medicine, endoscopy, soft tissue surgery, and ultrasonography. During her time at Vet school, she returned to NMAH to complete an externship and continued to be impressed by the quality of medicine practiced here. She looks forward to moving back to the area and re-joining the team in her new role as an Associate Veterinarian!
