Dr. Sarah Montoya

Dr. Sarah Montoya grew up in Cary, North Carolina as the only (human) child in a house full of dogs. She received her undergraduate degree from NC State University with a major in animal science. While there, she was active in the Alpha Zeta agricultural fraternity. She also had the opportunity to study abroad in England at Oxford University. Dr. Montoya remained at NC State for veterinary school, and her extracurricular activities included positions as the national president of the Veterinary Business Management Association as well as the Hill’s Pet Nutrition student representative.

Before and during veterinary school, Dr. Montoya worked at Lake Pine Animal Hospital in Apex, North Carolina. Her experience there fostered and grew her love for all animals. Dr. Montoya’s professional interests include surgery, nutrition, and providing fear free veterinary care.

Dr. Montoya’s hobbies include working out, hiking, and discovering new restaurants and breweries. She has enjoyed getting to know the area with her partner Robert and their two dogs Finley (named after NCSU’s Carter-Finley Stadium) and Fisher.
